Abstract

ABSTRACT


Hydroponics is a cultivation method that utilizes water without using soil, focusing on fulfilling the nutritional needs of plants. The application of hydroponics is more efficient in areas with limited green spaces. One type of hydroponic system is the Deep Flow Technique (DFT), which involves the continuous flow of nutrients and partial water pooling, covering half the diameter of the pipe to immerse the plant roots. The advantage of this system is a faster harvest period and more uniform plant growth, as nutrients are evenly distributed to all plants. However, this system also has drawbacks, such as higher water consumption, potential root rot, and sediment buildup in the installation due to stagnant water, which encourages bacterial growth. This thesis aims to facilitate farmers in monitoring and collecting data on hydroponic plants anytime and anywhere to ensure optimal plant growth and adequate nutrition. It is hoped that this thesis will enable farmers to automate and monitor hydroponic systems using Internet of Things (IoT) technology optimized with solar panels as an energy source. This system is designed to enhance the efficiency of modern hydroponic farming by monitoring and controlling environmental parameters such as humidity and temperature using the DHT11 sensor, water pH using a pH meter sensor, PPM levels using a TDS meter, and plant lighting in real time.
