Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategy of a social worker in addressing social stigma in schools experienced by S br Ginting, a child living at Bunga Bakung Orphanage in Karo Regency. The stigma of being an orphan led the client to experience social exclusion and decreased self-confidence. In response, the social worker applied a strength-based approach by giving the client the autonomy to choose her own recovery path. The client decided to join a music extracurricular activity at school as a way to express her interests and rebuild her confidence. This research utilized a qualitative method with a single case study approach. The findings show that involvement in music activities had a positive impact on the client's psychosocial recovery and reinforced the social worker's strategy in restoring the client's social functioning.
