Abstract
The pharmaceutical industry sector is highly dependent on packaging, to ensure the quality, safety, and stability of pharmaceutical preparations. Along with technological advances, the need for more innovative and multifunctional pharmaceutical packaging is increasing. This is driven by various factors, including the increasing complexity of drug formulations, demands for personalized therapy, and concerns about environmental sustainability. This study uses a qualitative approach method. Where literature studies with relevant data sources according to information related to drug packaging such as scientific journals, books, articles, and websites. The results of this study include several of the latest technologies such as smart packaging, Internet of Packaging (IoP), 3D printing, biodegradable polymers (such as PHA), and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) have brought about a major transformation in the design and function of drug packaging. These technologies allow packaging to interact digitally, monitor storage conditions, prevent counterfeiting, and provide real-time information to users.
