Abstract
Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a disease that often attacks toddlers, especially in developing countries. Several factors can influence the risk of ARI, including smoking habits in the family environment and unhealthy home conditions. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between smoking habits in the family and the physical condition of the house with the incidence of ARI in toddlers. Method: Data were obtained from various relevant national journals published between 2020 and 2025. Results: Smoking in the family significantly increases the risk of ARI, especially if it occurs indoors. In addition, the physical condition of the house also has a major influence on the increase in ARI cases. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between smoking habits in the household and the physical condition of the house with the incidence of ARI in toddlers. Suggestion: Community-based interventions are needed to reduce exposure to these risk factors to reduce the incidence of ARI in children under five years of age.
