Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of culture-based industrialization on the local economy, focusing on the case of the Tenun Weaving Center (Sentral Tenun) in Balai Panjang, Payakumbuh, West Sumatra. A qualitative approach was employed using literature review and field observation methods. The results indicate that industrialization in the traditional weaving sector contributes positively to increasing household income, creating employment opportunities, and stimulating the growth of supporting sectors such as logistics and digital marketing. While preserving cultural values, this form of industrialization has also encouraged the transformation of production systems to become more structured and efficient. However, several challenges remain, including limited access to capital, lack of managerial training, and dependence on seasonal markets. The study recommends strengthening local weaving cooperatives, enhancing human resource capacity, and expanding digital marketing networks to ensure sustainable development of the traditional textile industry.
