Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Efektivitas Model Pembelajaran Problem Solving dalam Pembelajaran Matematika Pokok Bahasan Faktorisasi Suku Aljabar terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Matematis Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Baubau. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa efektif model pembelajaran problem solving dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya minat belajar dan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran matematika yang masih didominasi metode konvensional. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan eksperimen. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Baubau. Data diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan berpikir kritis sebelum dan sesudah penerapan model problem solving. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem solving efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa, khususnya dalam materi faktorisasi suku aljabar. Secara teoritis, penelitian ini dapat menjadi acuan bagi penelitian serupa. Secara praktis, hasil penelitian bermanfaat bagi guru dan sekolah dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang lebih kreatif, interaktif, dan bermakna.


 


This research is titled The Effectiveness of the Problem-Solving Learning Model in Mathematics Instruction on the Topic of Algebraic Expressions Factorization toward the Critical Mathematical Thinking Ability of Eighth Grade Students at SMP Negeri 7 Baubau. The purpose of this study is to determine how effective the problem-solving learning model is in improving students’ critical mathematical thinking skills. The study is motivated by the low learning interest and involvement of students in mathematics learning, which is still largely dominated by conventional teaching methods. The research employed a quantitative method with an experimental approach. The subjects were eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Baubau. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments of critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of the problem-solving model. The results show that the problem-solving learning model is effective in enhancing students' critical mathematical thinking abilities, particularly in the topic of algebraic expressions factorization. Theoretically, this study serves as a reference for future research. Practically, the findings are beneficial for teachers and schools in improving the quality of mathematics instruction to become more creative, interactive, and meaningful.
