Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the semiotic aspects in the drama script "When the Devil Marries a Woman" by T. Arief. This type of research is descriptive qualitative using Peirce's semiotic approach. Data were collected through content analysis that focused on dialogue and narrative in the drama script. To validate the data, triangulation was carried out with semiotic theory and textual analysis. The data analysis process includes the interpretation of symbols, indexes, and icons contained in the work. The findings of the study indicate that symbols are used to symbolize power, the power of the devil, as well as the fear and dominance of the characters in the storyline. The index emerges from the character's movements and emotional expressions as clues to the cause and effect relationship, while the icon is defined as a real object such as "balerung" which functions as a symbol of transition between the real world and the supernatural world. The conclusion of this study shows that the use of semiotic signs in this drama can strengthen the moral message and conflict presented, as well as add depth to the meaning hidden behind the story.
