ANALISIS DESKRIPTIF INDEKS HARGA KONSUMEN TERHADAP INFLASI BULANAN PADA KELOMPOK MAKANAN JADI, MINUMAN, ROKOK DAN TEMBAKAU DI KOTA BANDUNG PERIODE 2017 – 2019

Abstract

The Finished Food, Beverages, Cigarettes and Tobacco group is one of the main expenditure groups in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) structure. In many major cities, including the city of Bandung, this group has a large contribution to the general inflation rate. Price fluctuations in this group can have a direct impact on people's purchasing power. This study aims to analyze the development of CPI and monthly inflation in the Finished Food, Beverage, Cigarettes and Tobacco expenditure group in the city of Bandung during the period from January 2017 to December 2019. This group became the focus of the research because of its large proportion of expenditure in the household consumption structure. This study uses a quantitative descriptive analysis method with an observation approach to trends, patterns, and fluctuations in CPI values and monthly inflation in the specified period. The data used is sourced from the official publication of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), including monthly CPI data and inflation percentages based on changes in the index. The results of the study show that the CPI value of this group has increased gradually from year to year, which reflects structural inflationary pressures. Monthly inflation shows a recurring seasonal pattern, with significant price increases ahead of religious festive months such as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, as well as the end of the year. In addition to seasonal factors, price dynamics are also influenced by external factors such as increases in raw material prices, cigarette excise policies, and fluctuations in market demand. The results of the analysis show that the Finished Food, Beverage, Cigarettes and Tobacco group plays a role in the formation of monthly inflation in the city of Bandung. Therefore, appropriate price surveillance and policy interventions are needed to maintain price stability in this group. This research is expected to be a consideration for local governments and other stakeholders in formulating more effective and data-based inflation control policies.
