Abstract

PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk, as the owner of the Alfamidi retail network, plays an important role in the dynamics of the modern retail industry in Indonesia. In the midst of tight competition with other players such as Indomaret and Alfamart, this company continues to innovate in terms of service, product arrangement, promotional strategies and of course production decision making and pricing. This study aims to analyze the production decision-making and pricing strategies implemented by PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk (Alfamidi) from a managerial economics perspective. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from financial reports, academic literature, and previous studies. The findings show that Alfamidi’s production decisions are centered around inventory management and product distribution based on market demand, particularly for fresh food items that require special handling. Meanwhile, pricing strategies are determined through a combination of cost-based and value-based approaches, supported by periodic promotional activities. These managerial decisions are analyzed using microeconomic concepts such as price elasticity, cost analysis, and market differentiation strategies. The study concludes that PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk has effectively applied managerial economic principles to enhance operational efficiency and maintain competitiveness, although challenges remain in local adaptation and predictive technology optimization.
