Abstract
This research aims to analyze the representation of Malay cultural identity through architectural elements, symbolism, and social functions of Maimun Palace in Medan, North Sumatra. Using a qualitative approach with field observation method, data was collected through direct observation, documentation, and informal interviews. The results showed that the architecture and ornaments of Maimun Palace contain strong Malay cultural values, such as social hierarchy, modesty, and symbols of royal continuity. In addition to being a historical site, the palace also functions as an active educational and cultural preservation space. These findings confirm that Maimun Palace is not only a relic of the past, but also a dynamic medium in maintaining and representing Malay cultural identity contextually.
