Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the personality dynamics of Ale's character in the novel "Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati" by Brian Khrisna using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, especially the concepts of id, ego, and superego. The background of the research is based on the urgency of increasing cases of depression and suicide in Indonesia, which is reflected in social reality and literary representation. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data was obtained through relevant quotations from the novel, which were critically analyzed based on Freud's psychoanalytic framework. The research results show that the conflict between id, ego, and superego in the Ale character gives rise to inner turmoil in the form of instinctual impulses, adjustment to reality, and moral pressure that leads to anxiety, depression, and suicidal tendencies. This finding confirms the relevance of Freud's theory in understanding the psychological complexity of contemporary literary characters, as well as enriching the study of literary psychology in Indonesia. This research offers novelty through the object of study, analytical approach, and its contribution in bridging the understanding between the fictional world and the psychological reality of today's young generation.
