INFERIORITAS DAN SUPERIORITAS TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN KARYAJOHN GREEN: KAJIAN PSIKOLOGI INDIVIDUAL ALFRED ADLER

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bentuk dan penyebab inferioritas serta upaya tokoh utama, Aza, dalam mencapai superioritasnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitiannya adalah sebagai berikut; Pertama, bentuk inferioritas Aza ditunjukkan melalui sikap rendah diri, di antaranya adalah membenci diri sendiri, merasa tidak berharga, merasa tidak normal, dan pesimis. Kedua, penyebab utama inferioritas Aza adalah gangguan mental Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, kemudian penyebab lainnya adalah kematian ayahnya yang memperparah kondisi gangguan mental OCD-nya. Ketiga, upaya Aza dalam mencapai superioritas adalah dengan pergi ke psikiater, mengubah sikap menjadi lebih perhatian, dan menerima dirinya sendiri. Faktor keberhasilan Aza dalam mencapai superioritasnya adalah karena pola asuh yang baik serta lingkungan yang suportif.

This research aims to explore the nature and causes of Aza's feelings of inferiority, and her efforts to attain a sense of superiority. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method. The findings are as follows: First, Aza's feelings of inferiority are reflected in her low self-esteem, which manifests as self-loathing, a sense of worthlessness, feelings of abnormality, and a pessimistic outlook. Second, the primary cause of Aza's inferiority is identified as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), compounded by the death of her father, which exacerbates her mental health struggles. Third, Aza's attempts to achieve a sense of superiority include seeking help from a psychiatrist, adopting a more attentive attitude, and practicing self-acceptance. Factors contributing to Aza's success in overcoming her feelings of inferiority include positive parenting and a supportive environment.
