Abstract
This article examines the phenomenon of code-mixing in the novel Catatan Musim by Tyas Effendi, a literary work that adopts a personal and reflective narrative style. Code-mixing in this context refers to the use of two or more languages within a single utterance or discourse, primarily involving Indonesian and English in the novel. The study aims to identify the forms of code-mixing present, classify their types (intra-sentential, inter-sentential, and tag switching), and analyze the social and stylistic functions of such usage. A qualitative. The findings reveal that the use of code-mixing in Catatan Musim not only enriches the narrative expression and strengthens character development but also reflects the author's identity as part of an urban bilingual generation familiar with global culture. Code-mixing in this novel serves as both an aesthetic and ideological strategy, representing a multilingual and cross-cultural life experience.
