PERMAINAN KEARIFAN LOKAL “TALI MERDEKA”

Abstract
Traditional games are not only a means of entertainment for children, but also a cultural heritage that is rich in educational and moral values. One form of game that is starting to be forgotten but full of meaning is the game named Tali Merdeka. This game is known in several regions in Indonesia, including Riau, with the characteristic of using rubber ropes strung together as the main tool of the game. This research aims to revive the Tali Merdeka game as a symbol of local wisdom that can be integrated in children's character education. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach through direct observation, and visual documentation. The results show that Tali Merdeka is not just a physical game, but also a means of forming the values of sportsmanship, responsibility, perseverance, and social solidarity. Revitalizing this game is very important in facing the challenges of modernization that tend to shift local culture.
