Abstract
Preserving local culture is a shared responsibility, especially in the face of the current of modernization that is increasingly shifting the existence of traditional culture. One form of culture that needs to be preserved is traditional cuisine, which not only holds taste value, but also historical value and regional identity. Bolu kemojo is one of Riau's typical foods that originates from Malay culture. This cake is shaped like a frangipani flower and has a sweet and legit taste with a distinctive pandan aroma. The name "kemojo" itself comes from the word "kemboja" (kam¬boja), the flower that inspired the shape of this cake mold. Unfortunately, many young generations no longer know or consume this traditional food because it has been replaced by modern food trends. This socialization activity aims to instill a love of local culture through the introduction of traditional food, especially bolu kemojo, to children and adolescents at the Pajar Iman Azzahra Orphanage, Pekanbaru City. The socialization was carried out through an educational and interactive approach, starting from an explanation of the history and philosophy of bolu kemojo, and a session of tasting the processed products. This method is expected to be able to foster curiosity, appreciation, and pride in the richness of local cuisine. The results of the activity show that the culinary approach can be an effective means of introducing and preserving culture. Participants showed high enthusiasm and began to recognize bolu kemojo as part of their identity. This activity is a small but important step in maintaining the existence of traditional culinary culture amidst the development of the times. This kind of education is expected to continue to be carried out sustainably to create a generation that cares and is proud of its own culture.
