PERANAN ILMU KEDOKTERAN FORENSIK SEBAGAI PENEGAKAN HUKUM DALAM PERKARA KASUS KRIMINAL

Abstract

Forensic medicine plays an important role in the criminal justice system, especially in the process of investigating and proving criminal acts. Forensic doctors function as expert witnesses who provide information based on the results of medical examinations, such as visum et repertum, which can be used as valid evidence in court. To determine the material truth of a situation, it is very important to determine the cause of death, type of injury, and time and location of the incident. Forensic medicine helps law enforcement collect and examine physical evidence in environmental cases such as mutilation, murder, or abuse. Thus, it is necessary to increase and develop capacity with more comprehensive standard operating procedures to ensure the effectiveness of forensic medicine in supporting the law enforcement process. To be successful in law enforcement, forensic doctors, detectives, and the legal system must work closely together.

Ilmu kedokteran forensik memegang peranan penting dalam sistem peradilan pidana, khususnya dalam proses penyidikan dan pembuktian tindak pidana. Dokter forensik berfungsi sebagai saksi ahli yang memberikan keterangan berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan medis, seperti visum et repertum, yang dapat dijadikan alat bukti sah di pengadilan. Untuk menentukan kebenaran materiil dari suatu situasi, sangat penting untuk menentukan penyebab kematian, jenis cedera, serta waktu dan lokasi kejadian.  Ilmu kedokteran forensik membantu penegak hukum mengumpulkan dan memeriksa bukti fisik dalam kasus-kasus lingkungan seperti mutilasi, pembunuhan, atau penganiayaan. Dengan demikian, diperlukan peningkatan serta pengembangan kapasitas dengan prosedur operasional standar yang lebih menyeluruh guna menjamin efektivitas ilmu kedokteran forensik dalam mendukung proses penegakan hukum.  Agar berhasil dalam penegakan hukum, dokter forensik, detektif, dan sistem hukum harus bekerja sama secara erat.
