Abstract

The phenomenon of academic cheating or academic dishonesty in higher education remains a serious challenge worldwide, including in Indonesian higher education institutions, with a relatively high prevalence among students that can threaten the integrity and credibility of the respective institutions. This study aims to identify the academic dishonesty profile among Psychology students at University X. The subjects of this study were 705 Psychology students from University X's 2023 and 2024 cohorts. The Academic Dishonesty Scale instrument by (Pradia & Dewi, 2021) was utilized after initial modification and then distributed via G-form. This study employed a quantitative approach, with data analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the frequency of each level of academic dishonesty among students. The analysis results show that 13.5% (95 students) were categorized as having high academic dishonesty, 71.6% (approximately 505 students) as moderate, and 14.9% (105 students) as low, indicating the common occurrence of this behavior. These research findings are expected to provide practical contributions by offering an empirical basis for relevant institutions to design effective academic dishonesty prevention.


Fenomena kecurangan akademik atau academic dishonesty dalam perguruan tinggi masih menjadi tantangan serius di berbagai dunia, termasuk di instansi pendidikan tinggi indonesia dengan pervalensi yang cukup tinggi di kalangan mahasiswa yang dapat mengancam integritas dan kredibilitas institusi terkait. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi profil academic dishonesty yang terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi di Universitas X. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa fakultas Psikologi di Univeristas X angkatan 2023 dan 2024 yang berjumlah sebanyak 705 mahasiswa. Instrumen Skala Academic Dishonesty oleh (Pradia & Dewi, 2021), digunakan setelah melalui proses modifikasi terlebih dahulu dan kemudian disebarkan melalui g-form. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan menentukan frekuensi setiap tingkat academic dishonesty pada mahasiswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 13,5% atau sebanyak 95 mahasiswa masuk dalam kategori melakukan academic dishonesty yang tinggi, sebanyak 71,6% atau sekitar 505 mahasiswa masuk dalam kategori sedang, dan sebesar 14,9% atau sejumlah 105 mahasiswa masuk kategori yang rendah, mengindikasikan bahwa perilaku ini umum terjadi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi secara praktis dengan dasar empiris bagi instansi terkait dalam merancang pencegahan academic dishoensty dengan efektif.
