Abstract
Caffeine is a phytochemical that is popular among young people and is commonly found in coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate. It works by blocking adenosine receptors in nerve cells, thereby stimulating the production of adrenaline. This effect can lead to an increase in blood pressure through the release of epinephrine by the adrenal medulla, which subsequently enhances cardiac output as well as systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Although caffeine consumption is often associated with the risk of hypertension, it also has the potential to provide benefits in managing hypotension due to its ability to elevate blood pressure. Therefore, caffeine supplementation may have a positive effect on increasing blood pressure, provided that the dosage and frequency of intake are carefully monitored.
Kafein merupakan zat fitokimia yang populer di kalangan generasi muda dan banyak ditemukan dalam kopi, teh, soda, serta cokelat. Zat ini bekerja dengan cara memblokir reseptor adenosin dalam sel saraf, sehingga merangsang produksi hormon adrenalin. Efek ini dapat menyebabkan peningkatan tekanan darah melalui pelepasan epinefrin oleh medula adrenal, yang selanjutnya meningkatkan curah jantung serta tekanan darah sistolik dan diastolik. Meskipun konsumsi kafein sering dikaitkan dengan risiko hipertensi, kafein juga berpotensi memberikan manfaat dalam penanganan hipotensi karena kemampuannya meningkatkan tekanan darah. Oleh karena itu, suplementasi kafein dapat memberikan efek positif terhadap peningkatan tekanan darah, asalkan diberikan dengan dosis dan frekuensi yang sesuai.
