Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the open unemployment rate on the poverty rate in Regencies/Cities of East Java Province in 2021. The problem of poverty is a complex issue that is closely related to the dynamics of employment, especially unemployment. In this study, secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) was used, with a quantitative analysis method using simple linear regression. The research population covers all districts and cities in East Java, with a total sampling approach of 38 regions. This research is expected to provide an empirical picture of the relationship between unemployment and poverty, as well as be an input for local governments in formulating poverty alleviation policies based on employment development. By understanding the pattern of the relationship between the two variables, it is hoped that regional development strategies can be more directed and have a long-term impact.
