STUDI LITERATUR: PERLAKUAN GOODWILL DALAM PENURUNAN NILAI
Main Article Content
Abstract
Goodwill, as one of the intangible assets that arise in the acquisition process, plays an important role in a company's financial statements. However, its recognition and treatment in impairment have become complex issues in accounting. This study aims to examine the accounting treatment of Goodwill in the context of impairment, the challenges faced in implementing impairment testing, and empirical findings that have developed in the last five years. Based on the literature study conducted, this study found that although accounting standards such as IFRS 3 and PSAK 48 clearly regulate impairment testing, there are weaknesses in the implementation of testing that relies on subjective management assumptions, as well as Earnings Management risks. In addition, impairment testing often faces challenges in terms of verifying the assumptions used and difficulties in auditor supervision. These findings indicate the need for improvements in transparency and independence in the testing process, as well as the possibility of reviewing the approach to Goodwill recognition in existing accounting standards. This study contributes to the development of accounting literature, as well as providing practical insights for auditors, regulators, and policy makers regarding critical issues in Goodwill impairment testing.
