IMPLEMENTASI PENILAIAN KINERJA KARYAWAN PADA PT. BUKIT MURIA JAYA (BMJ) KARAWANG

Abstract
Performance appraisal is one of the essential aspects of effective human resource management, as it can influence employee motivation, productivity, and decision-making in employee development. This article aims to examine the implementation of the employee performance appraisal system at PT. Bukit Muria Jaya (BMJ) Karawang, with a focus on the Key Performance Indicators (KPI)-based assessment method.
This study employs a qualitative approach using field study methods involving in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis related to the performance appraisal process. The findings indicate that the KPI system has been implemented in a systematic and structured manner, covering various aspects of both individual and team performance. However, several challenges were identified during its implementation, such as employees’ lack of understanding of the indicators used and limited transparency in conveying assessment results. As a result, perceptions of unfairness have emerged, which may affect work morale.
The implications of these findings highlight the importance of enhancing understanding through more comprehensive training and socialization for all employees. Moreover, the development of a more transparent and participatory evaluation system is expected to improve trust, engagement, and overall employee performance. This study contributes to the improvement of performance management systems within the company to become more effective and sustainable.
