Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines the implementation and understanding of Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah (ASWAJA) in the dynamics of Islamic law at SMK YPM 12 Tuban, with a focus on efforts to achieve harmony between textual and contextual approaches. ASWAJA, as the majority school of thought in Indonesia, has a crucial role in shaping the religious perspective and practice of Islamic law among academics, especially students. In the modern era, the challenge of understanding Islamic law lies not only in the literal (textual) interpretation of the Qur'an and Sunnah, but also in the ability to apply these values in a relevant manner to contemporary reality (contextual). This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to analyze how religious teaching and practice at SMK YPM 12 Tuban integrate these two dimensions. Data were collected through interviews with teachers, students, and school staff, observations of religious activities, and analysis of related curriculum documents. The results of the study indicate that SMK YPM 12 Tuban seeks to instill ASWAJA values through an Islamic religious education curriculum that not only emphasizes understanding of sharia arguments, but also encourages discussion on the application of Islamic law in everyday social and ethical issues. The harmony between textual and contextual is realized through adaptive teaching, allowing students to understand the essence of Islamic teachings while remaining relevant to the challenges of the times. This study is expected to contribute to the development of a comprehensive, relevant, and sustainable Islamic education model.
