MODERNISASI DAN KRISIS IDENTITAS BANGSA INDONESIA: TANTANGAN DAN UPAYA PENGUATAN NILAI-NILAI LOKAL

Abstract
Modernization is an inevitable process of social transformation that influences the development of nations across the globe, including Indonesia. While it brings significant progress in technology, economy, and ways of thinking, modernization also poses critical challenges to the preservation of traditional values and national cultural identity. This article explores the urgency of rediscovering and reinforcing Indonesia’s national identity as a strategic effort to maintain cultural integrity amid global influences. Using a qualitative approach and literature review, this study examines how noble values such as mutual cooperation, social harmony, and cultural diversity can remain relevant and be integrated into the fabric of modern society. The development of a strong national character is essential for adapting to modernization without losing cultural roots. Therefore, a collaborative effort among educational institutions, families, and the government is needed to reintroduce national values in a contextual and sustainable manner. The study concludes that national identity should not merely be a historical legacy, but must be continuously revived through social practices and public policies that are to the dynamics of the times.
