Abstract

This study aims to analyze the political socialization strategies employed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in building political awareness among the public, particularly first-time voters, in Pademangan Subdistrict ahead of the 2024 elections. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with party cadres and document analysis, this study reveals that the PDI Perjuangan party employs a combination of structural and cultural strategies through door-to-door activities, cadre training, social media-based campaigns, and the establishment of community feedback centers. Theories of political socialization and political mobilization are employed to highlight the party’s role in transmitting political values and information to the public in a contextual and participatory manner. Findings indicate that these strategies have successfully increased citizens’ political engagement. However, they also face various challenges, such as the spread of digital disinformation, a pragmatic political culture, and limitations in cadres’ communication capacity.
