ABSTRACT
The development of digital technology has changed communication patterns in various sectors, including Public Relations (PR) practices, which now face new challenges in maintaining communication ethics, particularly regarding the protection of personal data. This study aims to analyze the role of communication ethics in maintaining the security and confidentiality of personal data managed by PR practitioners in the digital era. Using a legal-normative and qualitative-descriptive approach, this study examines regulations on personal data protection and PR communication practices within the context of law and ethics. The findings reveal that the application of communication ethics principles such as transparency, accountability, and integrity significantly influences public trust and compliance with data protection laws. Additionally, the lack of understanding among PR practitioners regarding the legal aspects of personal data remains a significant obstacle in the implementation of ethical communication practices. Therefore, integration between legal understanding, communication ethics standards, and updates to internal company policies is necessary to ensure that PR practices in the digital age can provide maximum protection for personal data.
