Abstract

Kemojo is a traditional culinary delicacy from Riau that holds significant cultural value and economic potential. This study aims to explore the role of Bolu Kemojo within the framework of the creative economy and how it reflects the local cultural identity of the Riau community. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through literature review, participatory observation, and interviews with local MSME actors and cultural figures. The findings reveal that Bolu Kemojo functions not only as a traditional dish featured in various local ceremonies and celebrations but has also transformed into a creative economy product that contributes to tourism development and local economic empowerment. The cultural identity embedded in Bolu Kemojo is reflected through the use of local ingredients, its unique flower-shaped design, and the symbolic meaning behind its production process. Therefore, the preservation and promotion of Bolu Kemojo as a cultural icon should be supported by strategic policies that integrate creative economic growth with cultural heritage conservation.
