Abstract
In technological era, everyone needs an internet network to facilitate interaction through social media. The development of technology is characterized by the emergence of various social media, including YouTube, X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Social media has both positive and negative impacts. Excessive use of social media can lead to decreased life satisfaction due to negative social comparisons. Unachieved life satisfaction can trigger individuals to experience fear of missing out (FoMO). FoMO is an individual's fear of falling behind on events or individuals that are happening. This fear is often experienced by generation Z. This study aims to determine the relationship between life satisfaction and fear of missing out (FoMO) in generation Z social media users in Jakarta. The measuring instruments of this study are the life satisfaction scale according to (Diener, 2000), namely the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the FoMo scale according to (Przybylski, 2013). This study involved 162 participants using non probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 for Windows program, and correlation analysis using Spearman. The results of data analysis show that r = 730**. This shows that there is a significant negative and relationship between life satisfaction and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in generation Z social media users in Jakarta. A negative relationship means that there is a strong relationship between the two variables, one variable increases, the other tends to decrease.
