PENGKAJIAN PADA ANAK PNEUMONIA DENGAN MASALAH BERSIHAN JALAN NAFAS TIDAK EFEKTIF DI RSD BALUNG JEMBER

Abstract

Pneumonia is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children under five years of age, particularly in developing countries. A common nursing problem in children with pneumonia is ineffective airway clearance, caused by secretion buildup, weak cough reflex, and narrow airways. This study aims to systematically assess the condition of pediatric pneumonia patients experiencing ineffective airway clearance at RSD Balung Jember. The research design used a case study approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and physical examination. The assessment findings showed clinical signs such as increased respiratory rate, use of accessory respiratory muscles, the presence of adventitious breath sounds (rhonchi), productive cough, and decreased oxygen saturation. These findings highlight the importance of a focused respiratory assessment, particularly in identifying signs of ineffective airway clearance. A comprehensive assessment of these parameters serves as the basis for establishing an accurate nursing diagnosis. A thorough and systematic nursing assessment of respiratory function in children with pneumonia is essential for identifying the presence of ineffective airway clearance. Through accurate assessment, nurses can recognize clinical signs that indicate this problem, and the findings become the main foundation for determining appropriate nursing diagnoses.
