Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of imports and exports on the health of the Indonesian economy through balance of payments and trade balance instruments using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The results of the study indicate that imports have a dual impact: on the one hand, uncontrolled imports can cause a trade balance deficit and weaken foreign exchange reserves, but on the other hand, imports of capital goods and raw materials can drive national economic growth. Meanwhile, exports play an important role in increasing foreign exchange reserves, improving the balance of payments, and driving growth in the industrial sector and national economic resilience. The balance between imports and exports greatly determines the stability of the Indonesian economy, so that appropriate policies are needed in managing international trade.
