Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of proactive personality and work engagement on innovative work behavior of employees at Laboratory Clinic X. Innovative work behavior is a key factor in improving service quality in the healthcare sector, particularly in highly standardized laboratory environments. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method through questionnaires distributed to 103 employees at Laboratory Clinic X. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results showed that proactive personality had a positive and significant effect on innovative work behavior (path coefficient = 0.518; p-value = 0.000). Work engagement also had a positive and significant effect on innovative work behavior (path coefficient = 0.408; p-value = 0.000). These two independent variables together explained 71.1% of the variation in innovative work behavior (R-square = 0.711), while the remainder was influenced by factors outside the model. These findings support the theory that individuals with proactive personalities and high levels of work engagement tend to be more innovative in their work. The practical implications of this research are the importance of clinical management to encourage employee proactivity and engagement through training, providing autonomy, and creating a work environment that supports innovation. This research also provides theoretical contributions by broadening the understanding of the psychological factors that drive innovation in the healthcare sector.
