Abstract

 

The Community Service Program (KKN) at the Class I Children's Special Development Institution (LPKA) in Tangerang aims to improve literacy among inmates through library revitalization. Based on initial observations, the library was not functioning optimally due to untidy layout, a disorganized book collection, and low interest in reading. Activities focused on the physical arrangement of the reading room, systematizing the book collection by theme, installing shelf labels, and providing educational visual media to create a comfortable and engaging atmosphere. The approach used was participatory and educational, directly involving inmates in the arrangement process to foster a sense of responsibility and ownership. The program, implemented over eight weeks, included observation, spatial arrangement, book classicication, and activation of the reading room through light literacy activities. The expected results are increased interest in reading, active involvement of inmates, and the development of a sustainable literacy culture at LPKA Class I in Tangerang, while supporting the development goals mandated by Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Criminal Justice System and Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections.
