Abstract

Work-life balance refers to an individual's ability to manage various roles, including that of an employee and a family member, and how satisfaction within these roles relates to their overall work-life equilibrium. A low level of conflict between work and family life, coupled with a high degree of facilitation between these two aspects, can significantly enhance psychological well-being. A healthy work-life balance supports an individual's performance both in the workplace and at home. Consequently, a robust work-life balance measurement instrument is essential. The Work-Life Balance Scale, developed by Fisher, Bulger, and Smith, comprises four primary dimensions: WIPL(Work Interference with Personal Life), PLIW (Personal Life Interference with Work), PLEW(Personal Life Enhancement of Work), and WEPL(Work Enhancement of Personal Life). Following its development, a reliability analysis of the Work-Life Balance Scale items was conducted based on internal consistency. This study adopted a quantitative approach, with data collected through a survey of employees at a private university in Bekasi City. Purposive sampling was employed as the sampling technique. Using the Slovin formula, a sample size of 187 participants was determined (with a margin of error of 4.8% based on a population proportion of 60% and a 95% confidence level). The data analysis techniques included reliability analysis using Cronbach's Alpha and item validity analysis to assess the internal consistency of the work-life balance measurement. The research findings indicate that the Work-Life Balance Scale is highly reliable, with a coefficient value of 0.98. All 30 items comprising the measurement tool demonstrated excellent internal consistency and were highly intercorrelated. The correlation values for each item with their respective aspects fell within the good category (0.725 < r < 0.851).
