PEMBERDAYAAN PERPUSTAKAAN DESA SEBAGAI PUSAT LITERASI BAHASA BAGI MASYARAKAT DESA

Abstract
Tingkat literasi bahasa masyarakat desa masih tergolong rendah, yang disebabkan oleh minimnya akses terhadap bahan bacaan serta belum optimalnya fungsi perpustakaan desa sebagai pusat literasi. Padahal, perpustakaan desa memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi masyarakat melalui penyediaan informasi, pendidikan nonformal, dan kegiatan literasi yang terstruktur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis peran serta strategi pemberdayaan perpustakaan desa dalam meningkatkan literasi bahasa masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif di Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Selatan. Subjek penelitian meliputi pengelola perpustakaan, perangkat desa, serta masyarakat pengguna perpustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perpustakaan desa mulai menunjukkan peran sebagai pusat literasi bahasa, meskipun masih menghadapi kendala seperti keterbatasan fasilitas, kurangnya tenaga pengelola profesional, dan minimnya partisipasi masyarakat. Upaya pemberdayaan dilakukan melalui kolaborasi dengan perangkat desa, pengadaan koleksi buku yang relevan, dan pelatihan literasi dasar bagi warga. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya penguatan peran perpustakaan desa secara sistematis agar dapat menjadi pusat literasi yang efektif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract
The level of language literacy among rural communities remains relatively low, primarily due to limited access to reading materials and the suboptimal function of village libraries as literacy centers. In fact, village libraries hold significant potential to enhance community literacy through the provision of information, non-formal education, and structured literacy activities. This study aims to describe and analyze the role and empowerment strategies of village libraries in improving language literacy among the community. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with the research conducted in the Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency. Research subjects included library administrators, village officials, and local residents who utilize the library. The findings reveal that the village library has begun to demonstrate its role as a language literacy center, although it still faces challenges such as limited facilities, a lack of professional staff, and low community participation. Empowerment efforts have been undertaken through collaboration with village authorities, the provision of relevant book collections, and basic literacy training for residents. The study recommends the systematic strengthening of the village library’s role to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability as a community literacy center.
