Abstract
In the current era, cosmetic surgery has become a prominent trend in beauty enhancement. This procedure is often carried out to improve physical appearance and increase attractiveness. The present study aims to examine the influence of self-concept on the intention to undergo plastic surgery among early adult women. This research employed a quantitative method with a parametric approach, involving 253 participants as respondents. The instruments used were a self-concept scale based on the theoretical aspects proposed by Calhoun & Acocella (1995), and an intention scale based on the theory of Fishbein & Ajzen (1975). Data collection was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires via Google Forms. The results of the analysis indicate a significant influence of self-concept on the intention to undergo plastic surgery (F = 117.785, significance < 0.001). The conclusion of this study suggests that there is a relationship between the two variables examined. Specifically, the higher the level of self-concept an individual possesses, the lower their desire to pursue cosmetic surgery.
