REGULASI EMOSI PADA DEWASA AWAL PASCA PUTUS CINTA: STUDI KOMPARATIF BERDASARKAN GENDER
Main Article Content
Abstract
Breakups during early adulthood can lead to significant emotional imbalance. This study aims to understand the emotion regulation strategies used by individuals after a breakup and to explore the differences based on gender. The method used is qualitative with an interpretative phenomenological approach, based on the Process Model of Emotion Regulation (Gross, 2007). Four participants (two males and two females) aged 20–25 were interviewed in depth, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis (Cresswell, 2007).
The results show that men tend to use distraction strategies and suppress their emotions, while women more often use reflective strategies and seek social support. These differences are also influenced by cultural norms and the relational experiences of each individual. This study is expected to contribute to the understanding of emotion regulation after breakups and serve as a reference for gender-based psychological interventions.
