HUBUNGAN ANTARA KONTROL DIRI DENGAN PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN TUGAS KULIAH

Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and academic procrastination among university students in completing coursework. The research method used was a quantitative correlational approach. The population consisted of 1636 students, with a sample of 100 active undergraduate students from the Psychology Program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, selected using simple random sampling. The instruments used were the Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) and the Pure Procrastination Scale by Steel (2010). The results of the analysis indicated a highly significant negative correlation between self-control and academic procrastination, with a correlation coefficient of -0.756 (p < 0.01). This means that the higher the students’ level of self-control, the lower their tendency to engage in academic procrastination. The study concludes that self-control is a key factor in reducing procrastination behavior among students. The implications of this research are expected to serve as a foundation for developing self-management training programs to enhance students’ academic effectiveness.
