Abstract

Dental health problems in children remain a significant concern, particularly due to ineffective family health management. Family behaviors such as lack of knowledge about dental hygiene, high-sugar consumption patterns, and infrequent visits to dental health facilities are also major contributing factors. The purpose of this research is to implement family nursing care through an empowerment-independent approach to improve family health management related to children's dental health. The method used is a quantitative descriptive approach based on Evidence-Based Practice, with two families as intervention subjects. The intervention was carried out through dental health education, demonstrations of correct tooth brushing, and the implementation of five family health tasks. Pretest and posttest results showed a significant improvement in family health management, particularly in knowledge, attitudes, and actions regarding children's dental health. Evaluation showed that families were able to recognize problems, make decisions, care for children, modify the environment, and utilize health services better after the intervention. In conclusion, empowering family independence has proven effective in improving children's dental health management within the family.
