Abstract
The elderly are an age group that is vulnerable to various health problems, one of which is hypertension. Hypertension in the elderly is characterized by high blood pressure, headaches, and a risk of stroke. One measure to reduce pain is to use a neck massage to improve blood circulation. Hypertension or systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg or higher and diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg or higher. This study aims to demonstrate the effect of neck massage therapy using olive oil in reducing acute pain in hypertension sufferers in Sari Galuh Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency. This study used a quantitative method with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of two elderly people who experienced headaches and neck heaviness due to hypertension. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), while blood pressure was assessed using a sphygmomanometer. The results showed a decrease in pain scale after being given neck massage therapy for 5 consecutive days. It is hoped that this method can be used as an alternative self-care and a complement to conventional medical therapy.
