Abstract
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) remain a major challenge in the healthcare system in Indonesia. One of the most effective efforts in preventing injuries is the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid the risk of cross-transmission of diseases from patients to nurses and between patients. The author aims to analyze the implementation of Patient Safety: Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by Nurses in the Rokan Room of Tampan Psychiatric Hospital, Riau Province. The method used is a case study. Interventions in the form of education and demonstration of PPE use were conducted on 3 nurses who worked in the morning shift and were carried out for three days on June 7, 9, and 10, 2025. The research was conducted at Tampan Psychiatric Hospital, Riau Province. The author used an instrument in the form of an observation sheet for PPE use. The evaluation results showed that after implementation, the nursing care evaluation was assessed with success indicators, namely an increase in compliance with the use of PPE among nurses. Based on the observation results, Nurse D's compliance before the intervention was 57% (fairly compliant category) and after implementation for 3 days, the result was 85% (good compliance level). For Nurse P, compliance before the intervention was 42% (non-compliant category) and after implementation for 3 days, the result was 71% (good compliance level). Meanwhile, Nurse R's compliance before the intervention was 28% (non-compliant category) and after implementation for 3 days, the result was 71% (good compliance level). The implementation of education on PPE compliance has been proven to increase nurses' awareness of the importance of using PPE.
