UPAYA MEMPERTAHANKAN TRADISI SEDEKAH KAPONG DI DESA KUNDI KECAMATAN SIMPANG TERITIP KABUPATEN BANGKA BARAT

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji upaya masyarakat Desa Kundi, Kecamatan Simpang Teritip, Kabupaten Bangka Barat dalam mempertahankan tradisi Sedekah Kapong di tengah perubahan sosial dan ekonomi. Tradisi ini merupakan ungkapan syukur atas hasil pertanian sekaligus memperkuat solidaritas masyarakat. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan teori tindakan sosial Max Weber, penelitian menemukan bahwa masyarakat aktif melakukan berbagai tindakan sosial untuk menjaga tradisi, termasuk pembentukan panitia dan penolakan ekspansi perkebunan kelapa sawit. Meskipun terjadi pergeseran hasil pertanian, tradisi ini tetap dipertahankan sebagai identitas budaya melalui adaptasi dan resistensi terhadap perubahan. Penelitian menegaskan pentingnya makna subjektif dan motif kolektif dalam pelestarian tradisi di era modern.

Abstract

          This study examines the efforts of the people of Kundi Village, Simpang Teritip Sub-district, West Bangka Regency in maintaining the Sedekah Kapong tradition amid social and economic changes. This tradition is an expression of gratitude for agricultural products while strengthening community solidarity. Using a qualitative approach and Max Weber's social action theory, the research found that the community actively performs various social actions to maintain the tradition, including the formation of a committee and the rejection of oil palm plantation expansion. Despite the shift in agricultural yields, the tradition is maintained as a cultural identity through adaptation and resistance to change. The research emphasizes the importance of subjective meanings and collective motives in the preservation of traditions in the modern era.
