Abstract

This article aims at spiritual and cultural life, ensuring the desire for natural resources, and strengthening the identity and social order of indigenous peoples who live in harmony with nature. In this research method, understanding local wisdom in the preservation of customary forests in the Kajang community, Bulukumba Regency uses a qualitative method that focuses on in-depth observation. The methods used are; heuristic method, source criticism method, interpretation method, and histography method. The results of the application of local wisdom in the preservation of customary forests in the Kajang community, Bulukumba Regency can be seen from the preservation of the customary forest area which is still very natural and minimally exploited. The Kajang community has succeeded in maintaining the biodiversity and ecological function of the forest through compliance with customary rules that have been passed down from generation to generation. The forest not only functions as a natural resource, but also as a spiritual space and cultural identity that is integrated into everyday life. Compliance with the philosophy of simple life and customary rules led by Ammatoa creates a strong social order and is able to maintain environmental desires independently without damaging external intervention.

Abstrak

Artikel ini bertujuan pada kehidupan spiritual dan budaya, memastikan keberlanjutan sumber daya alam, serta memperkuat identitas dan tatanan sosial masyarakat adat yang hidup selaras dengan alam. Dalam metode penelitian ini memahami tentang kearifan lokal dalam pelestarian hutan adat di komunitas kajang kabupaten Bulukumba ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang berfokus pada pengamatan yang mendalam. Adapun metode yang digunakan yaitu: metode heuristik, metode kritik sumber, metode interpretasi, dan metode histografi. Hasil dari penerapan kearifan lokal dalam pelestarian hutan adat di komunitas Kajang Kabupaten Bulukumba terlihat dari terjaganya kelestarian kawasan hutan adat yang masih sangat alami dan minim eksploitasi. Masyarakat Kajang berhasil mempertahankan keanekaragaman hayati dan fungsi ekologis hutan melalui kepatuhan terhadap aturan adat yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun. Hutan tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sumber daya alam, tetapi juga sebagai ruang spiritual dan identitas budaya yang menyatu dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Ketaatan terhadap filosofi hidup sederhana dan aturan adat yang dipimpin oleh Ammatoa menciptakan tatanan sosial yang kuat dan mampu menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan secara mandiri tanpa intervensi luar yang merusak.
