Abstract
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia's legal system has introduced new challenges in regulation and legal practice. This study aims to examine legal gaps related to the legitimacy, accountability, and protection of justice values in the use of AI within the legal field. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literature review approach and is analyzed through the theory of responsive law, which emphasizes the importance of legal adaptation to social and technological changes. Data were obtained from five relevant nationally indexed academic journals. The findings indicate that there is no substantive legal framework that clearly regulates the use of AI, either in terms of legal legitimacy or accountability in the event of error. Moreover, the lack of institutional awareness regarding ethical risks and human rights violations presents a serious concern. This study recommends reforming legal education curricula to include not only technical competence but also the development of students’ critical awareness regarding digital legal challenges. There is a need for legal regulations and legal education systems that are adaptive and value-based so that AI does not undermine the principles of justice within the legal system.
