Abstract
Mental health means avoiding mental complaints and disorders, such as neurosis or psychosis. Islamic or religious thought is closely linked to mental health because both are related to peace of mind and heart. This study aims to: (1) estimate the influence of Islamic thought on mental health in society, (2) how the concept of mental health is reflected in the Qur'an, and (3) what the Qur'an's view of psychotherapy for mental health disorders is. This is a qualitative study using the theoretical method of textual hermeneutics. The results of this study indicate that the Qur'an contains spiritual values that can overcome the difficulties of human life. The Qur'anic view of psychotherapy is a healing model using ruqyah (circumcision) in accordance with Surah Al-Isra' (17): 82, Surah Al-Baqarah (2): 153; Surah Al-Baqarah (2): 155; and Surah Adz Dariyat (56). The results of this study are expected to reconstruct a healthy human perspective and mentality in facing life's problems, thus preventing despair, resilience, never giving up, and preventing suicide.
