Abstract
Imminent abortion is spotting that indicates a threat to the continuation of a pregnancy. In this condition, the pregnancy may still continue or be maintained. Data from the Batam City Health Office (2019) recorded 31,354 pregnant women in Batam City, with a maternal mortality rate (MMR) of 82.72 per 100,000 live births. The direct causes were bleeding (47.8%), hypertension during pregnancy (17.4%), and other causes (34.8%). Many factors can cause aneuploidy (chromosomal abnormalities), infections, endocrine disorders, drug use, environmental factors, immunological abnormalities, uterine abnormalities, and incompetent cervix. The objective of this study is to implement nursing care for patients with imminent abortion in the Sakura Ward of Hj. Bunda Halimah Hospital, Batam City, in 2024. The nursing diagnoses include: risk of bleeding related to pregnancy complications, acute pain related to physiological injurious agents, and anxiety related to situational crisis. The nursing care plan focuses on bleeding prevention. Implementation involves monitoring vital signs, clinical signs of anemia in the mother, fetal condition, and recommending bed rest during bleeding. The nursing evaluation showed that vaginal bleeding had decreased by the third day of treatment, and the patient was discharged on the third day. It is expected that nurses can provide education on prevention and care for pregnant women with imminent abortion, motivate the patient and family to assist the patient’s activities during hospitalization, and provide prompt and appropriate treatment to manage bleeding in patients with imminent abortion so that the pregnancy can be maintained.
