Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of symptoms characterized by increased blood glucose levels as a result of both relative and absolute insulin deficiency. DM is generally classified into two groups, namely type 1 DM and type 2 DM. The disease (DM), which is also known as diabetes or blood sugar disease, is a group of chronic diseases characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels as a result of a disturbance in the body's metabolic system, where the pancreas organ is unable to produce the hormone insulin according to the body's needs. One non-pharmacological method that can be used is providing autogenic relaxation therapy for unstable blood glucose levels. This author aims to evaluate the effectiveness of autogenic therapy in the instability of blood glucose levels at Arifin Ahmad Hospital Pekanbaru. The results showed that in the application of autogenic relaxation therapy, there was a significant reduction in patients, where before carrying out the action of applying the autogenic relaxation technique it was 324 g/dl after applying the autogenic relaxation technique to 230 g/dl which was carried out for 3 consecutive days. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that autogenic therapy has a positive influence in reducing the instability of blood glucose levels. It is hoped that educational institutions can expand information related to medical-surgical nursing care, patients gain knowledge about alternative blood glucose management, and Arifin Hospital can utilize these findings to improve nursing services at Arifin Ahmad Hospital, Riau Province.
