Abstract

Children are the age group most susceptible to fever, including fever due to typhoid infection and most patients show an increase in body temperature > 37.5°C (hyperthermia). In practice, many parents still give antipyretics even when the temperature has not reached the recommended threshold. This increases the risk of drug side effects and shows the need for safe and effective alternative interventions. One non-pharmacological approach that can be used is the warm water foot soak technique. This study aims to determine the effect of Nursing Care for Children with Hyperthermia Through the Application of the Warm Water Foot Soak Technique as an Evidence-Based Practice-based nursing intervention at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital, Riau Province. The case study method was used with the subjects in this application being 2 pediatric patients with typhoid fever who were carried out on January 30 to February 1, 2025. This study was conducted once for 3 consecutive days in approximately 15 minutes for each intervention. The evaluation assessed after the intervention was carried out was the child's body temperature measured using a thermometer. The evaluation showed that in An. Patient R showed a decrease in temperature from 38.2°C to 38.0°C on the first day, 38.4°C to 37.9°C on the second day, and 38.1°C to 37.5°C on the third day. Meanwhile, patient A showed a relatively stable temperature on the first day (38.7°C remained), then decreased from 38.5°C to 38.3°C on the second day, and from 38.0°C to 37.7°C on the third day.
