Abstract
Pain is one of the main complaints most often experienced by cancer patients, especially in those who have metastasized. This Evidance Based Practice aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) therapy in reducing pain levels in ovarian cancer patients. The number of respondents in this study was 1 person with a research design using experimental methods by providing direct intervention to respondents within 3 consecutive days within 20 minutes. Measurement of pain levels was carried out using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) measuring instrument. The results of Evidance Based Practice showed a significant decrease in pain levels after the intervention. The average pre-test value of moderate pain complaints and the average post-test value of pain complaints decreased with the average pre-test value of the pain scale based on the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) of 5 (Moderate) while the post-test pain scale was 2 (Mild), reduced pain expression (no grimace), decreased pulse frequency from 118x/min to 97x/min, decreased protective attitude and decreased anxiety. This study recommends that Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy be routinely implemented in nursing practice as a non-pharmacological intervention to help reduce pain levels in cancer patients.
