Abstract
This study analyzes the impact of India's Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 on the integration of Middle Eastern countries. The CAA 2019, which provides an accelerated pathway to citizenship for religious minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, has been controversial because it bases citizenship on religion and excludes Muslims. This law is the first time in Indian history that religion has been explicitly used as a criterion for granting citizenship, leading to accusations of violating the principles of secularism and equality in the Indian constitution. The implementation of the CAA alongside the National Register of Citizens (NRC) increases the risk of political and social marginalization for the Muslim community and other minority groups not covered by the law. This study uses qualitative methods with a literature review to examine the responses of Middle Eastern countries, socio-political dynamics, and legal and diplomatic implications.
